About the officers, and some FAQs.

Hi I’m Kai! My pronouns are They/Them, and I’m the relatively pretentious designer who made this site. I’m a Computer Science and Game Design & Development double major, with a minor in Creative Writing. I’m a Software Engineer by trade, and I’m a big proponent of Open Source and Copyleft Software. I am a fan of Operating Systems, and I daily drive NixOS Linux. My Game Engine of choice is Godot, and I’m a writer for its official newsletter. My main website, where I blog frequently about games, can be found at fireye.coffee.

Short answer: No.
Long Answer:
If you want to make games, but not specifically video games, you’re in luck! Typing a PDF, or doing graphic design is about as technically challenging as these mediums get, no code in sight.
If you want to work on video games specifically, while not strictly required for certain roles (eg: musicians, level designers, graphical artists), we do recommend you learn the basics, as the process will become significantly more accessible should you do so. We have people who know the ropes and are more than willing to help you out if you have any questions. Stop by a dev night sometime!
We recommend you try doing a Game Jam. It will give you a full picture of the design experience, as well as teach you a boatload in a very short amount of time.
It’s perfectly ok, and even encouraged, to make bad art. We have all made complete and utter garbage, and it has undoubtedly turned us into better artists. Skill at a craft is a function of how much garbage you’re able to make, and how well you’re able to look at that garbage and do better next time. Remember you’re among peers, and go make some bad art.
